Proud Mary Theatre is thrilled to announce that Robert Fuson, our very first director will return in August to direct “Boy” by Anna Ziegler.

Inspired by a true story, a well-intentioned doctor In the 1960s convinces the parents of a male infant to raise their son as a girl after a botched circumcision. Two decades later, the repercussions of that choice continue to unfold amongst the tricky terrain of finding love and the confusion of sexual identity.

Robert Fuson is the Artistic Company Manager of the Guerrilla Shakespeare Theatre Company. After graduating Furman University and the Warehouse Theatre Conservatory Program, he has worked as a director, actor, stage manager, and sound designer across the upstate. He is excited return back to Proud Mary after directing their debut production of I Am My Own Wife (Winner of Best Play, Actor, Lighting and Sound Design at SCTA 2017 and Best Choreography at SETC 2018). Other noteworthy recent directing accolades include Never Swim Alone at Guerrilla Shakes (Winner of Best Play, Actor, Lighting and Sound Design at SCTA 2018 and Best Choreography at SETC 2019), Our Town at the Market Theatre, and assistant directing Much Ado About Nothing at Warehouse Theatre.
