Libby Riggins and Lauren Paige Wilson star in MISS USA.

Proud Mary Theatre Company is supporting our sisters in the #MeToo movement with the South Carolina premiere of The Pussy Grabber Plays – Stories Inspired by the (19) Women Who Came Forward)  premiering August 27, just prior to Donald Trump’s fourth acceptance speech at the GOP convention at our Vimeo Virtual Playhouse.

The Pussy Grabber Plays is a series of eight short plays (two are musicals) created by some of the most highly acclaimed women writing for theater today. Based on interviews with seven of the women who have spoken out, the plays offer insights into each woman’s life, her decision to stand up, and the fallout she’s faced. Laced with humor, fear, heartbreak and anger, The Pussy Grabber Plays is political theater at its best.

Miss USA, based on the bravery of Sam Holvey and written  by  Sharon  Kenny  and  Sharyn  Rothstein, is one of eight plays in this collection and is directed by Jenna Tamisiea Elser, Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Glow Lyric Theatre. Libby Riggins and Lauren Paige Wilson star in this one-song musical.

Libby is so excited to be performing with Proud Mary, for the third time after The Little Pony and C’est la Vie. She has performed with Mill Town Players, The Market Theatre Company, and Glow Lyric Theatre. Some of her favorite roles have been: Denise Sanders (Smoke on the Mountain), Edith Ellington (First Baptist Ivy Gap), Delightful (Dearly Departed), Grandma Addams (Addams Family Musical), Ouiser (Steel Magnolias), and recently in Mill Town Players, Bright Star! This role has been a change up, from the usual comedic roles, and had been a joy to take on. Love is love is love.

Lauren grew up doing theatre in Greenville. After earning a degree in Theatre Performance from College of Charleston and traveling the country with Missoula Children’s Theatre, she decided to land back in Greenville. Since then, she has done shows at Greenville Theatre, Centre Stage, Warehouse Theatre, South Carolina Children’s Theatre, and Cafe and then Some. Currently, she is a teaching artist at South Carolina Children’s Theatre. Lauren has  starred numerous short and feature films. Her work in Cracks, a horror feature film, earned her the Best Actress award from Crimson Screen Horror Film Fest. She’s also a voice actor, lending her voice to animated characters and commercials. Her greatest joy is her rescue dog, Fozzie. Huge thanks to Ben for his patience, love, and encouragement.

The Pussy Grabber Plays will stream all weekend Thursday, August 27 @ 8 pm – Sunday, August 30 @ midnight. $5 Suggested Donation. Make a donation now of any amount here on our website.
